Teacher Kathryn Smith and the 7 hard-working Habitat intensive students need our help! There is a lot to do to care for this Polaris K-12 community space. Students have ideas for new projects, too.
Please join in on these projects during the intensive:
Anchorage Sand and Gravel donated gravel which was delivered today! Lots of hands are needed to distribute it to the loop north of the gazebo, the gazebo and the ampitheater. Shovels and rakes are provided.
Students have weeded and amended the soil in several of the raised beds and donations of perennials are welcome. Native Alaskan wildflowers donations would be greatly appreciated, too, for a new themed garden by Willow. Conor and Jonathon have a project design for a Polaris Habitat sign permanent footing.
Summer watering will need to be done, so sign up your family for a week!
Gift items: Garden Tour 2002 t-shirts are “free” with your gift of time, labor or $. Polaris Habitat t-shirts adult L, XL & XXL are still available for $18. Polaris Schoolyard Habitat posters by artist Rei Munoz will be sold at the End of the Year Picnic for $25 unsigned and $35 signed. Money raised will support future Habitat projects.
